Canteen Area Needs Renovation

The students from Faculty of Teacher training program in Universitas Sebelas Maret want to have a wide and clean canteen area. In fact, the canteen area there is narrow and not comfortable so it needs to renovate. It is not only the sellers who complain for the narrow canteen area, but also the students complain the same thing. Narrow canteen area also makes many sellers lose buyers because there is no place to sit. "I often see students getting here leaving because there is no place to sit." said one employee. Besides, the location of canteen area is too close to the parking area. It makes the students do not feel comfortable to have lunch there because of the pollution there. "When it starts raining, this place will become so muddy. Besides, the location is so close to the parking area so that the pollution makes the consumers do not feel comfortable, "said Fitriana Auliawati, one of the FKIP students. All FKIP students hope that the Faculty can renovate...

Good Facilities, but Are They Clean Enough?

The comfy and clean toilet can make the users feel comfortable. Toilet is one of facilities in Sebelas Maret University such as in the UNS Libarary. Is toilet there comfortable?. The condition of a bucket or a dirty bucket, a little running water, rubbish scattered in the corner of the toilet and the pungent smell of urine have become icons of the UNS library toilet. This is due to several things namely the lack of student awareness in maintaining the cleanliness of toilets and the lack of awareness of janitors to clean toilets. Many student think that cleaning toilet is only the responsibility of the janitor. Keeping the toilet in the UNS library is not only the janitors duty. All campus citizens must participate keeping the toilet clean. "I dont know how they though about cleanliness, they threw tissue in the corner of the toilet because the trash can was full. They should have thrown it into another trash can," Setiani added, a library visitor. Toilet users must ma...

Is Literacy Park Comfortable?

UNS provides new facilities, a literacy park, that is used as a comfortable place to study and have a discussion. Unfortunately, lots of rubbish were found, so that this place is not comfortable anymore. It proves that many students are ignorant of the clean environment. The other factor is in literacy park, it is not facilitated with any trash bin. It caused students lazy to throw their rubbish to the trash bin. They left their trash and made the literacy park looks so dirty. One of the English Department students, Yola said that when she visited the literacy park for the first time, she saw lots of rubbish there such as food scraps, tissues, plastics, snack wraps, and bottles. "I am very disappointed with the attitude of students who are not responsible for their rubbish.
