UNS Prepares Literacy Park

The UNS Library will build a literacy park to utilize vacant land that is useful as a place to study and discuss all UNS residents.

The construction of the literacy park, led by Burhanuddin Harahap, S.H., M.H., M.SI., Ph.D., has started on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, and he expected this park will be completed within 1.5 months. The literacy park construction received assistance from BNI CSR for about Rp. 261,025,000. The concept uses  Joglo as the icon and another five small gazebos use Limas as their concept.

All UNS citizens are expected to be able to use and keep the literacy parks and also facilities.
Nevertheless, the efforts of the UNS library in the construction of this literacy park caused debate among UNS students.
"Why build a literacy park just for a place to read and discuss something. There are many parks that can be used in the UNS area. The money can be used to buy books, complete references in the library than to build a park. We as students need references, not parks, and besides, reading can be anywhere and flexible, it doesn't need a special place, "said Fitri, FKIP history science student.

Ida Kusuma Dewi : Being Lecturer Is Not My Dream

Ida Kusuma Dewi was born on May 25, 1971, in Magetan. She said that being a lecturer was not her dream, but now she is the lecturer of the English Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences Sebelas Maret University. To be a lecturer was her mother’s wish for her and it was not what she wanted. She loved teaching for children so much.
